Why is it in George’s Dog Balm?
Organic Grapeseed Oil helps to moisturize and revitalize dry and cracked paws. It does wonders for our dogs’ paws as well as noses. This oil is enriched with antioxidants as well as vitamin E. The oil is beneficial to the skin:
- Keeps skin supple by retaining moisture
- Is non-comedogenic (does not block pores)
- Absorbs readily into the skin
Grapeseed Oil is the ultimate treatment for dogs who suffer from very dry skin, seborrhoea and allergies. This oil has proven to be an effective natural skin care treatment for repairing delicate skin areas. Grape seed oil contains essential fatty acids similar to those that combine to create the skin’s sebum, a naturally lubricating and protecting fatty substance.
What is it (thanks Wikipedia)?
Grape seed oil (also called grapeseed oil or grape oil) is pressed from the seeds of grapes, and is thus an abundant by-product of winemaking. Grape Seed Oil is a preferred cosmetic ingredient for controlling moisture of the skin. Light and thin, grape seed oil leaves a glossy film over skin when used as a carrier oil for essential oils in aromatherapy. It contains more linoleic acid than many other carrier oils.
Grape seed oil may provide some health benefits. A 1993 study supports the claim that grape seed oil increases high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C or “good cholesterol”) levels and reduces LDL levels. Grapeseed oil is high in polyunsaturates and low in saturated fat.
