Why is it in George’s Dog Balm?
Organic Hemp Seed Oil has anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties. It is considered to be one of the most nutritional oils available so perfect for our dogs’ paws and any skin hotspots.
Hemp seed oil contains the perfect ratio of Omega-6 and Omega-3 fatty acids. These are essential fatty acids which can penetrate the inner layers of the skin and promote healthy cellular growth also playing an important role in reducing the inflammation associated with common skin issues in our babies.
Hemp seed oil prevents dog’s skin disorders such as dry nose, dog acne, dog eczema, dog rash and dandruff. Hemp oil for dogs can thicken the fur texture also.
Don’t worry, hemp oil will not cause your dog to have psychoactive reactions or a sudden cravings for the munchies (ok maybe not the latter!)
What is it (thanks Wikipedia)?
Organic Hemp oil or Hempseed oil is obtained by pressing hemp seeds. Cold pressed, unrefined hemp oil is dark to clear light green in colour, with a nutty flavour. The darker the colour, the grassier the flavour. It should not be confused with hash oil.
Refined hempseed oil is clear and colourless. The oil is of high nutritional value because of its 3:1 ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 essential fatty acids. The two main proteins in hempseed are edestin and albumin. Both of these high-quality storage proteins are easily digested and contain nutritionally significant amounts of all essential amino acids.
